<p>Sometimes I dont know if clients are looking at me with &#8220;deer-in-the-headlights&#8221; face because of my accent or because of the stuff I&#8217;m trying to make them understand.</p>
<p>Today I was sure it was the second option, which made me feel a bit better, at least about my English skills. However, when it comes to my marketing teaching skills, I&#8217;m probably lacking something.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m finishing an entire online campaign for this landscaping company, and it wasnt enough that they rejected my entire copywriting because it was &#8220;not very clear&#8221;, but they asked me to make their logo on the capture page bigger.</p>
<p>Before I get into the whole thing, here&#8217;s an example of what they wanted me to change:</p>
<p>We&#8217;re giving away a free mowing for every contract deal, so on top of the sign up form, I had:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>&#8220;Get your first mowing absolutely free&#8221;</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Which has now become:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>&#8220;Request a quote for residential or commercial landscaping services absolutely free&#8221;</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Awesome, huh? I&#8217;m going to run split tests on both and show them which one works best..</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">But anyway, here&#8217;s what got me fired up:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I had a 90&#215;70 pixels logo on the top left corner of the page, simply to give it a &#8220;professional look&#8221;. At the meeting today, they requested a bigger logo.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;Why do you want a bigger logo?&#8221;, asked myself.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;For branding purposes&#8221;, replied.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;But the idea is to get people to sign up, and then sign a contract. We don&#8217;t even need a logo&#8221;, I tried to argue.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;What difference does it make?&#8221;, replied.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;Well, if I make your logo bigger, the sign up form wont be above the fold, and that is proven to  decrease conversions by at least 15%&#8221;, very convincing argument, right?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">And apparently they bought it. We&#8217;re going to run with the small logo, but my point here is that most business owners are so used to hitting people over the head with their advertisement that when they try a completely new approach it ends up ruined by their old ways.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The other thing, which is much more important, and I forgot to mention to them, is that we are focusing on giving the visitors high-quality information first, to capture their attention, and make them want to do business with us. Follow the idea path:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">High quality info -&gt; happy customer -&gt; more business!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Eventually, a logo is important for Corporate identity, brand positioning, and etc.. But as a customer, do you care about the logo?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I&#8217;m glad at least this battle I won, and now I&#8217;m sharing this with you here. When it&#8217;s all set and done, I&#8217;ll post the split test results with the different headlines.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">But I&#8217;d love to hear what you think.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve just finished reading Eben Pagan&#8217;s latest giveaway, the 21-page <a title="Eben Pagan Marketing Voodoo" href="http://www.gurumastermind.com/homestudy/voodoo_video.asp" target="_blank">Marketing Voodoo report.</a></p>
<p>Eben is too humble to take credit for it, but he&#8217;s famous for the phrase &#8220;move the free line&#8221;, in regards to offering high-quality content, freely, in order to capture and captivate prospects, customers, and associates.</p>
<p>To promote the launch of his Guru Home Study Course, Eben has been over-delivering 1000s of dollars worth of free tips, training, and even mini sales letters &#8211; stuff that could easily sell for at least $40, only to WOW his prospects to the point where they have to have his course.</p>
<p>Honestly, it&#8217;s working.</p>
<p>After taking the time to watch his 40 min video twice and reading his marketing voodoo report over and over, I&#8217;ve reached the point where I can&#8217;t imagine what&#8217;s left for the actual paid course. The information Eben shared on the marketing voodoo report alone is 100% actionable, and I already see it increasing my conversion rates and capturing customers for life.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m trying my best not to sound like a groupie, but it&#8217;s not easy.</p>
<p>What is impressive is that Eben leaves no doubt that what&#8217;s in the video and in the marketing voodoo report is his best, most precious strategies, and he is not afraid to reveal it publicly. The reason for is that despite the immediate potential his free reports have, with his guidance and special exercises, exploring its full potential will take much less than having to study it on your own.</p>
<p>Basically, Eben Pagan is giving you an amazing toy without the full, 400 page instruction. He gives you a 20 page instruction, and full access to the toy; you may play with it for a while, but without the entire manual, it gets boring&#8230; So you have to come and ask for the full instruction set.</p>
<p>It is your decision to seek Eben Pagan as a solution provider, not only because he gave you the toy, but because he knows exactly how to have lots and lots of fun playing it.</p>
<p>The entire &#8220;move the free line&#8221; strategy revolves around the fact that Eben (or any knowledgeable entrepreneur, for that matter) is confident that it will be our decision to seek his solution, which brings us to another point discussed on the Marketing voodoo report:</p>

A year or two ago, you would have been right since majority of users were high school and college students. However, for the past six months, the group of users age 35-54 years has been experiencing explosive growth. In fact, these users posted an impressive 276% growth rate for the last half of 2008 – the equivalent of almost doubling every two months. So how can you capitalize on this? We have a few tips to make the most of social media, such as Facebook, for the purpose of relationship building.</p>
<p><strong>Do your homework. </strong>Facebook is an environment that oversteps the boundaries between personal and business lives. It is a place where you can piece together your colleagues’ personality. That said, do some research! Find out your prospective business connection’s interests and preferences.</p>
<p><strong>Make meaningful connections.</strong> Quality always beats quantity. Compare social media to a big party. You make connections because you are fun and interesting to interact with. If your connections ever become business colleagues, that is wonderful but it should never be your primary motive. Above all, you want to create meaningful relationships!</p>
<p><strong>Use your toolset.</strong> You do not have to install dozens of fancy applications to make an impact. By default, your Facebook account has a number of basic tools you can use to help others get to know you. Write notes, post photos and links, and make an impression. You have to participate in social media for other users to interact with you and develop a connection.</p>
<p><strong>Toss the agenda</strong>. Avoid trying to market yourself immediately. You want others to see you as a person. Just posting links to your blog and sending messages with clearly ulterior motives will alienate others irreversibly! Focus on being real and developing connections.</p>
<p><strong>Maintain</strong>. This may seem like common sense but its often forgotten. Once you create a connection, you need to maintain it. That is, keep in touch even if lightly. Check up occasionally and see what is new. Read notes and statuses, exchange information, and help others out whenever possible.</p>
<p>If the overall message is not clear already, social media is about quality relationship building. Facebook is an endless supply of interesting people in both social and business aspects. If carefully cultivated, your relationships may develop into wonderful prospects for your future. Perhaps you know a guy who knows a guy? Use your connection and ask for an introduction! Maybe you have found the perfect business partner. Take a leap and make the most out of Facebook.

<p>During the beta launch for PPC Domination about 3 months ago, I had the chance to connect with Jim at the <a title="Better Networker" href="http://www.betternetworker.com/referral/7777c626" target="_blank">Better Networker</a> forum, and we extend our talk to <a title="Leo Saraceni Facebook" href="http://profile.to/leosaraceni" target="_blank">Facebook</a>. Truly great fellow, very funny, and a <strong>genious</strong> in PPC.</p>
<p>What Jim has developed for the course is by far (and I will include <strong>Perry Marshall&#8217;s</strong> book in this statement) the most comprehensive guide to <strong>Adwords</strong>.</p>
<p>In his videos, he shares several of his own techniques, no holding back, all captured from his screen, without editing or scratching any good stuff out.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s what I accomplished with Jim&#8217;s guidance:</p>
<ul>
<li>Finally learned how to keep absolut track of my costs</li>
<li>Learned amazing new tools (and how to efficiently use some old ones) to perform keyword research</li>
<li>Got a much better idea of copywriting under 35 characters (pretty hard stuff!)</li>
<li>How to keep my quality score high enough to get clicks for less than 0.30</li>
<li>How to create an entire campaign with long-tail keywords using only phrase or exact match</li>
<li>Secret tools to generate misspelled keywords that cost less than .50c!</li>
<li>The contrast approach: how to use keyword boldening to my favor and make my ad stand out even for competitive keywords.</li>
<li>When to properly utilize keywords in my ad copy/headline</li>
</ul>
<p>But the best thing for me is that I was able to take this knowledge and build a system from which I actually <strong>get money back from the leads I generate.</strong> Before I ever get on the phone, the highly targeted traffic I generate jumps on my front-end offers, completely covering all my costs.</p>
<p>At the end of about 60 days, I had completely paid off my original costs, and I averaged <span style=" font-size: 18px;"><strong>$0.78</strong></span> from <strong>EACH AND EVERY LEAD</strong>. It&#8217;s not a lot, but this means my advertisement (and some additional expenses) are <strong>PAID FOR</strong> without my money!</p>

<p>This is one of the most insightful takes on <strong>&#8220;old-school mlm&#8221;</strong> -<em> meaning buying leads/cold-calling/plasttering business cards/using valpak coupons </em>- vs <strong>&#8220;new-school marketing&#8221;</strong> &#8211; <em>meaning leveraging an expert positioning to create attraction towards your area of expertise/cultivating your relationships/offering the most value</em>.</p>
<p>This is a touchy topic, as I just had an interesting conversation with my own very successful upline, who is as I write this putting together a <strong>social media plan</strong> to improve his <strong>personal brand equity</strong> and to open an exclusive contact media for his large team.</p>
<p>As we were discussing his plan, I had the opportunity to point out the importance of <strong>developing relationships</strong>, instead of business transactions; creating <strong>multiple communication channels</strong>, and leveraging his knowledge and tenacity towards an easier-to-manage daily operation.<span id="more-125"></span></p>
<p>We as marketers, self-motivated, independently funded, tend to see ourselves as the outsiders; we&#8217;re all creating our <strong>4-hour workweek</strong>, away from corporate america, dressed in our jeans and tshirt, loaded with a <strong>laptop and ideas</strong>! In reality, our community is only part of a vanguard movement brought upon us by the dissemination of the internet (<strong>social media, we love you!</strong>) But that doesn&#8217;t change the fact that the consumer&#8217;s society has greatly evolved in the past 5-6 years, drastically lowering the effectiveness of cold-calling, door-hanger coupons, sticky-cards on windshields and all that cr#p!</p>
<p>With the <span style="font-style: underline;"><em>ever-increasing individualism</em></span> being praised by an <em>ever-more self-sufficient community</em> (with an iPhone I can keep my business up without any actual human contact), people have just lost their patience with non-targeted messages: <strong>who the hell still reads mail addressed to &#8220;Dear Homeowner&#8221; or actually believes Valpak coupons are efficient?</strong></p>
<p>My point with this amazingly out-of-context post is that there shouldn&#8217;t be any surprise &#8220;old school&#8221; marketers are changing their ways: it&#8217;s <strong>Darwinism applied to networking</strong>, only the well-positioned, social-media-savvy, ethical and generous will survive.</p>
<p>So hang your worn-out phone, your post cards, and even your fax machine: upgrade to a lightweight laptop, sit in your favorite smoothie bar and enjoy evolution!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of my goals for 2009 is to start a new brand, and implement an <strong>automated marketing system</strong> that would make Mike Dillard and Jay Kubassek ask me for advice.</p>
<p>The first drawing of my marketing system was made about 3 days ago, and while I was rounding up feedback from experienced marketers that I trust, some additions were made. This is not &#8211; by far &#8211; the ultimate plan, but I wanted to open the debate to other networkers, as I have never seen any marketing expert publicize their plans.</p>

<p>So, my <strong>Social Media</strong> participation is on the top &#8211; it is the beginning of my customer experience cycle<span id="more-118"></span></p>
<p>These actions point towards the welcome page, which will be a blog (for easy update purposes &#8211; Im an html illiterate) &#8211; The blog will host <strong>valuable free content</strong>, as I do with this one already, but highly focused information.</p>
<p>From the blog, <strong>targeted readers</strong> would then be redirected to lead capture pages, which have been designed to solve specific &#8220;pains&#8221; &#8211; each page will lead to an appropriate product. (im listing Mike&#8217;s products here, but these are just examples)</p>
<p>Before they get to the final product page, however, their information is captured into my autoresponder; in order to provide great CRM (Customer Relationship Management), I will bluntly offer tons of free training, to build value towards my brand equity &amp; to strengthen my market share on the customers&#8217; Inbox.</p>
<p>The autoresponder training also points to an specific product, as an &#8220;if you would like to know more, check this out&#8221;.</p>
<p>Notice that the &#8220;free-training&#8221; does not stop at week 4 &#8211; it goes on indefinitely, which leads me my next domination plan:</p>
<p>With this <strong>marketing </strong><strong>system </strong><strong>integration </strong> in place, running smoothly thanks to my &#8220;social media &#8211; one hour a day&#8221; efforts, my brand equity will explode without me blowing my budget &#8211; and the &#8220;free-training&#8221; slots could be occupied by future joint-ventures.</p>
