Quick and Dirty – Entrepreneur Startup SlideShow

Have you applied the force within the Law of Attraction in your life lately?

This is an example of the sort of “attraction” my vibrations brought me;

It is Saturday night, and before my wife comes back with our wine/movie, I’m going through my feeds (Check my favorites here) when I stumble upon one of Ben Casnocha’s posts, regarding some slide show.

Like any TV fanatic, I just can’t resist visual aids! I click on it, and it leads me to the a blog named Venture Hacks. The very first thing I read is a quote from Evan Williams, the founder of Twitter and Blogger, which I shall reproduce here: “Excellent stuff!”. Mr Williams decided reading this blog was worth his time; I decide whatever this guy is reading should definitely go through me as well.

Apart from being an amazingly successful bunch of entrepreneurs, the guys that run Venture Hacks really do provide great hacks on entrepreneurship, with pearls of wisdom worthy their self-assigned nickname “hamburger helper for entrepreneurs“.

But the post that lead me to their blog was entitled the Quick and Dirty Guide to Starting Up, and it referred to a swift savvy 36-slide presentation about – what do you think? – starting up: things that every entrepreneur faces in the beginning, no matter what industry or “niche” they’re in.

I sincerely recommend it; it’s actually quick, and stuff like

Markets are relatively efficient, so your first product is probably wrong

Just make it all painless and fun.

To entrepreneurs against 9-to-5,

Leonardo Saraceni.

Meet Leonardo M Saraceni, Naked.

Not naked, no. But quite honest.

I decided to write an introductory post about me after some folks questioned my experience and knowledge, due to my age. This will explain a little of my journey, and why my entrepreneurial journey can be of assistance to others.

Who Is Leonardo Saraceni?

I’ve always been thirsty for success, in all areas of my life. Even though I’m young, (22 yrs old), I’ve always pushed myself to be successful in my objectives, setting goals a little bit higher all the time. I’m constantly working on my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, and I’m on my way to a purple belt, in less than 2 years. I’m also a very passionate certifiied mixologist, a huge fan of wines, having worked as WIne Director for a restaurant without ever taking any regular classes.

Lotus Club Team - 2nd Place Overall at the 2005 Jiu-Jitsu State Champ.

Back in Brazil, my home country, I paid for College running my own catering business; a group of highly talented FlairBartenders would set up our mobile bar and take over the party with Fire and Flair presentations. It was a heck of a lot of fun! Crazy hours, funny people, outrageous parties, and 3 years of zombie-like behavior in college. The business did pretty well, I managed to live a very comfortable life-style while studying, but I could not be away from any event; the company owned me. I was 21 and felt 42!

And you’re in Networking Marketing?

After getting my Bacharel in Marketing from the Anhembi-Morumbi University in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I had the opportunity to come to the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina, and work for this very expensive resort, helping them with their Banquets and Special Functions. I basically switched languages while keeping my schedule at 70+ hours/week.

Over the course of an year, I was ready for some change. I had enrolled in college here, to improve my skills, and managing both for another 3 years was not acceptable. I turned to my internal entrepreneur and asked him if he was ready to open another catering company; he did not. In a desperate “how to quit my job” search on Google, I found the opportunity I was asking for, my own Home-Business.

And How Is that Going?

Network Marketing has just wrapped up everything I thrive on: the challenge, the constant push for more – information, knowledge – and the ability to be successful professionally and still conduct a blissful social and family life.

This enterprise has already given me more information than I can digest in 100 years, and I’m glad to be part of it. From now on, I’ll be applying myself as much I can into my business and my personal development.

Thank you for your LEADERSHIP!

Review – Interview of Kevin Makrs for Technology Goddess

WOW, Talk about intense interviews…

I thought I knew my way around google. The interview just blew me away! FOAF, XFN markups, that is hot stuff, not many people are aware of its impact yet. Now that you put a copy of your course on the line, I bet folks will pay more attention to it.

So this is what I’ve got out of Kevin and Erica:

You know how everytime you sign up for myspace, facebook, bebo, digg, delicious, reddit, better networker, etc, you are asked to type username, password, and most social networks also ask you to allow access to your address book so they can find your friends that are already on the network.

This process creates multiple databases, that share similar information, due to users participating on more than one Network. With the Open Social, Open ID, and Social Graph API, Google plans on letting these websites draw information from each other, without having to hassle their users into giving the same data two or three times.

With the Social Graph API, Google already draws public data, but the evolution of that application will allow private info to be accessed by the networks as well. In the first phase of implementation, Google is running applications from inside the networks, as a regular user, to be able to bypass permission levels. The second phase, to be achieved within 12 to 18 months, is to actually build a somewhat centralized database, that will track users’ activity streams throughout ALL social networks utilized by the user.

The activity stream will allow users to update information in all social networks with one single entry. It will also allow the database to be updated constantly, as users add or modify existent content. With the installation of Open Social, Open ID, and Data Portability, our social networking time will be greatly reduced, and much more efficient.

As far as advertising and google ranking, what I could anticipate from the interview is that as Google builds this database, its crawlers are indexing social content, such as posts, discussions, comments, our “favorite movies”, “general interests” and everything else. As that indexation takes place, and we keep tagging our favorite content, as well as we better profile ourselves online, the concept of “Self-targeting” will ease ad orientation and display. AdWords users will be able to place highly specified ads into certain profiles, in only certain networks.

Also, as networks evolve, “influencers” separate themselves as content generators, traffic-puller users that, according to the Googlebot, will have a higher “social rank”, therefore being of more value to advertisers.

One thing Kevin mentioned was that a common MLM practice is to “take advantage of social situations and try to sell something”, as he explained, that is where marketers lose their social value.

I honestly can’t wait for that integration to take place. I would love to have all my social networks connected, it would improve my SEO margin and eliminate a lot of work. And the interview also reinforced the value-based marketing approach, where hard-selling has no place in a social networking environment.

Inside Google – Interview with Google Developer

I’m going to suggest everybody listens to this interview carefully, because it is VERY intense.

My friend Fernando Ceballos recommended it in the Better Networker forum, and as I listened to it, my mind almost exploded.

It reveals the future of Google’s Open Social, Open ID and Data Portability projects, as well as explains the ideas for XFN mark ups and FOAF. It is major for folks like us, who depend on SEO to advertise, and to generate traffic. After all, SEO brings us business!

Marketing Through Social Networks and WEB 2.0 – Power of Profile

Do you have your profile set up online? Are you Social Networking-savvy? Does your MySpace show pictures of your last trip to the beach? Do you have co-workers on your Facebook community? Are you Twitting daily, hourly, or constantly? What is your last blog post’s topic? Have you earned enough points on the Better Networker?

HAVE YOU BEEN GOOGLED?

If these questions remind you of your French classes in High School and just like that, you have no idea what I’m talking about, you’re missing on a HUGE chunk of market. Have you realized each of these Social networking services offers a FREE Platform for YOUR business promotion? Okay, you do use the internet, I got it: you check your emails, you check your company’s website. But are you making yourself and your business publicly available online? Can people find you in Google?

On each of these Social Networking services, you’re offered a blank page to work on. That page will be your PROFILE, with your general interests, biography, pictures, videos, links, favorite music, books, TV shows, and a lot more. Your profile is a screen shot of your life; better yet, is a screen shot of ANY aspect of your life. Search engines will devour your profile, and advertise it for free.

For a successful network marketer, it is mandatory to establish a solid YOU INC. Understand this as YourReputation Incorporated. What better way to establish your reputation as a marketer than a free online billboard?

LAUNCH YOUR ONLINE LIFE

A good profile, just like any good marketer, should balance personal and professional with subtlety; don’t go plastering your affiliate website link all over the page, don’t make your screen name your company’s name, don’t post straight up “would you like to lose weight and be a millionaire” type of advertisement. That will repel potential customers, as well as alienate you from all the other “leisure users”, and destroy your traffic. You want people to check out your profile, so make sure you have something interesting there, and ALWAYS ADD VALUE to anything your customers will have contact with.

Be sure to include a full Bio, with funny and emotional moments, pictures of you with the family, at a convention, practicing sports, etc. In your personal description, be sure to add details about your life OTHER than your profession. Of course, when you’re describing your new Network Marketer lifestyle, and all the good things that have happened to you since you started making $250,000/month, add a discrete link to your website. Make users feel compelled to click on it; I always like when the link is disguised as a continuation to your story.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Always encourage people to visit your profiles, and check other people’s too. Make friends, leave Guestbook entries, increase your network. Profiles such as MySpace, WordPress, or Facebook are much less “aggressive” than your straight out “squeeze page”. “Squeeze pages” are always full of great copywriting, which should drive visitors to make a decision, buy something, or sign-up to something, it is a more “do or die” approach. Profiles, on the other hand, unconsciously create curiosity, with a mild copy, success stories and pics, and should lead your visitor to have a decision made before going into your great “squeeze page”.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

Gone are the days where the only public record available was on the phonebook. The advantages and disadvantages of an online life are discussed everywhere, and will only harden with the increasing numbers of internet users. There is a delicate art in sharing online information without jeopardizing our physical life. I honestly can’t tell how many people have my home-office number, or how many people know the details of my life I made available through my social profiles.

Back in Brazil, I’d be a lot more careful, because there is a higher chance people would use that information in really wrong ways. But I’m in North Carolina now, living on a small beach area, and I benefit tremendously from the free advertisement my social network profiles offer. I made piece with my mind due to success.

So set up your profiles, and make sure to add me. Don’t worry about my Brazil comment, I get a little creapy sometimes. Promise everybody I’ll stop by and give you hints, you could give me hints on mine. Don’t you love networking?

Become the Master of Your Reality

Mike Dillard’s last newsletter hit the spot on successful mindsets. He is absolutely right when he states that we’re conditioned to be successful – or not. We create the reality we live in, with whatever boundaries we decide to obey. Obeying the reality of a $20,000/year earner, you will never allow yourself to earn $600,000. Or even $100,000.

It is necessary that the reality we live on truly embraces our goals. When your goals are, according to your own reality, unachievable, they will surely be unachievable. Like the Matrix, bend the reality to incorporate paths toward your goals: meet the right people, attract the right people, be opened to new experiences/contacts, and stop living like worker bees.

When I first read it, I felt frustrated, because it made me aware that I was sabotaging my own success by not accepting how successful I am already. Yeap, I have a beautiful family, I eat very well, my wife and I drive brand new cars, we are attending college with an excellent GPA in a non-birth language, and we are raising the most beautiful baby ever!

The Saraceni Family with the Albemarle Sound in the Backgroung

Sometimes it is very easy to let your sucesses be overshadowed by the regular bumps on the road. The fact that I started MLM about a month ago, and I’m still not a millionaire, should not bum me down. Or bum anybody down, for that matter. I will be a millionaire, soon, because I have everything necessary to attract the right people. Nobody gets filthy rich in a month.

The message Mike delivered is inspiring, but also a warning: we all have to be the masters of our reality. It is within ourselves to do so.

I’ve completely changed my life-style by stretching my reality and becoming my own boss. I’ve found a company that destroyed my believes and offered me a path to success.

Managing an Online Business and College

I’ve been putting this topic away due to a variety of reasons, and procrastination is not one of them. I did not feel qualified, first of all, to write about managing my online network marketing business while attending college; I have been doing it for a while now, and it never feels easy. I understood that as long as I’m not sailing through supervising marketing, sponsonring, accounting, and training, along with homework, I was not qualified to write about it.

I gotta state for the records my GPA is averaging 3.7, and my company is well-engaged. But the fact that I had to work hard for my conquests actually struck me as a failure! I could not believe how naive I was being, thinking there should be an easy way of administrating home work and network marketing.

The fact is that there is no easy way of accomplishing anything. There are smarter ways, and that is exactly what pushed me so far in this industry and guided my studies in college. I understood I was very successful at managing school and business, when I noticed my own success. The hectic schedule had covered my eyes to my accomplishments.

I realized I am smarter than most of my classmates, because I already have a purpose, a career, and I’m established in my market. Even though it is not an easy-breezy “party-drunk” college life, it rewards me with a comfortable life-style, and allows me the opportunity to invest in myself, always, instead of giving my best to some boss, loaning somebody else my training and time.

My company has paid for my studies, I never took a loan for college. Network marketing is giving me a jump start on my financial freedom right now, without having to climb the corporate ladder, what would take my fellow classmates at least 10 years to reach a decent income.

My schedule is filled with income producing activities, and I get to apply every piece of knowledge towards those activities. Accepting that my work is being rewarded, now and in the future, is the best way to manage studies and business.

I sincerely recommend it. And I believe all career-motivated college student can run a successful online enterprise. All it takes is the right motivation.

See you at the top!

P.S – On your right side there are links to some very helpful content. Explore them and start your research.

Online Marketing Expanded – How to become the Advertisement

My marketing will expand exponentially. I’m going to extend my online marketing campaign to the offline world, utilizing old-school techniques to brand my business.

This came from a post at the Better Networker Community, on a cheap advertisement topic they had on the forum. I cannot begin to describe the incredible help the Better Networker has been; it goes way beyond Magnetic Sponsoring, and it contains so much value, sometimes I feel like I should be paying for it.

But for my offline social marketing campaign, I’ll basically stamp my home business website, www.YourIncomePotential.com, EVERYWHERE!

Subtle, of course. I will not become a mobile billboard, specially because my wife would refuse to drive with me. She would never forgive me for turning our daily visits to the grocery store into a carnival parade.

And the whole thing should not be SHOTGUN marketing, either. Basically, the offline social marketing should have some capture, something with decent attraction, and then my website; something like “I quit my job and now make more money than ever” or “I’m a successful entrepreneur“, or even “Are You Successful?“. I think I’ll go with the last one. Of course, the line would precede www.YourIncomePotential.com

I’m currently researching where can I get myself a customized license plate holder for my cars. I decided I won’t advertise my dealership anymore, I should have my own website www.YourIncomePotential.com
stamped on front and back of my cars.

And I cannot believe I haven’t thought of making Business Cards yet! I will most definitely advertise through my everyday talking! It’s the ultimate saliva recycling! Why waste it without purpose? All those horrible conversations at the check-out on Staples or Harris Teeter will turn into Income Producing Activities!

My every action will become an Income Producing Activity. ‘Till the day I drop!
